The Paul Mullin column
WELL, I said I was due a goal.
It was a relief to score on Saturday but, as I've said before, the most vital thing was getting three points because that's what we've got to aim for from every home game.
The first half was a bit of a non-event, while Lee McEvilly could have made the result a bit more comfortable with a couple chances.
But I'd take a couple of 1-0s, no matter who scores, to keep us up there. And if we can carry the enthusiasm we showed in the second half over to Saturday's trip to Forest Green then there's no reason why we can't get another win under our belts.
They've picked up a little bit in recent weeks but we want to go there and get some points.
Saturday is a game we're capable of winning, and I'm sure we can't play as badly as we did the last time we were there.
It was only our fourth game in the Conference and we showed them too much respect. Although we kept the score to 2-1, that was one of the worst games I played in last season.
Thankfully, we bucked our ideas up and we've come a long way since then. We've got a year's experience of the Conference now.
If we apply ourselves in the right way there will be more good away wins to come.
With respect to Forest Green, we need to be picking up points from sides in the bottom half of the table. But they are the games I worry about more than the big ones because we've not always performed well against those kind of sides.
Carlisle's going to be a big game on Tuesday. Hopefully they'll bring a couple of thousand supporters to our place because you want to play in front of the bigger crowds.
And if we can bring the Cumbrians a little bit closer to us that will have a big impact on the table.
IT'S an honour to be nominated for Nationwide Conference player of the month, but there's another club member who's up for a gong.
Harry Lightbown, or H as we know him, has got to be a favourite for the Conference kit man's dodgy underwear award.
His comedy Daffy Duck ones are bound to nail it!
