A 22-year-old who knifed a man in a Brierfield street and left him heavily bleeding and needing stitches is awaiting sentence.
Wesley Hall admitted unlawful wounding part way through a trial at Burnley Crown Court.
The defendant, of Milton Street, Brierfield, had denied the more serious allegation of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Hall was remanded in custody until December 23 by Judge Beverley Lunt for pre-sentence reports.
The jury had been told that Hall and his victim Kevin Mason, 40, had had a fight in Mr Mason's home.
Hall believed the older man owed a relative of his money.
They had gone outside and the defendant had attacked Mr Mason with a knife.
The victim suffered two deep gashes to his head and had to have 11 stitches under local anaesthetic.
