A COMMUNITY orchard has been created in Burnley.
The Trees for Burnley group teamed up with funding from the Forest of Burnley and the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Primary Care Trust to help plant more than 300 varieties.
A team of around 18 volunteers helped plant a selection of fruit trees, silver birch, cherry trees, alder buckthorn and willow trees in Ridge Avenue and Carholme Avenue.
June Evans, secretary of Trees for Burnley, said: "The community orchard will be open to the public.
"People will be encouraged to pick their own fruit from the fruit trees to help make people more aware of where fruit comes from and encourage people to take the healthy option."
