A TEENAGER was critically injured and three other people hurt when a car went out of control in thick fog.
Police said the accident happened when the Peugeot 106 was travelling along Mellor Lane, Mellor, at about 2.50am yesterday.
Officers said the car was just west of Barker Lane on a left turn, when it clipped a nearside wall and spun, throwing three people from the vehicle.
The car's four occupants were taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital.
The worst injured was passenger Simon Moxham, 18, of Langho, who had severe head wounds and was said by police to be critical but stable.
Passenger Richard Pye, 16, of Whalley Road, Wilpshire, also suffered head injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.
Police say that Michael Wright, 16, a passenger, also of Whalley Road, Wilpshire, suffered slight head injuries.
The car's driver, Ryan Thornton, 25, of Whalley Road, Wilpshire, also suffered slight head injuries.
The road was blocked for three hours for accident investigation and vehicle recovery.
A police spokesman said: "It is unlikely anybody witnessed the crash, because of the late hour and fog, but we are asking for anyone with information, or who may have seen the car before the crash, to come forward."
Witnesses are asked to call the police on 01254 51212.
