A POPULAR author will be visiting a Ribble Valley pub to give local youngsters an insight into the world of writing.
Manchester-based writer Adele Geras is visiting the Hark to Bounty, Slaidburn, as part of a programme of activities organised by the Bowland Transit writer in residence.
The residency, funded by Arts Council England and Ribble Valley Council, is held by Maureen Fenton, who has organised the visit by Adele to the area.
The author -- who writes books for all age groups -- will be visit the pub on Tuesday, to run workshops for local Year 5 and 6 children from local children, with a reading held in the evening afterwards.
The writer, behind children's books including the Little Swan ballet series, will be at the Hart to Bounty from 7pm, and the event will be open to people outside the area along with Bowland residents.
Organiser Maureen Fenton said: "An important aspect of the Bowland Transit writer-in-residence project has been to provide opportunities for people in the area served by the buses to take part in writing and literature-based activities.
"As the eight-month residency draws to a close, this visit from an established and popular author will give children and adults an insight into the techniques and experiences of writing fiction, from a master of the craft." Tickets are still available at £1.50 to Bowland residents, and £4.50 to people from outside the area.
