BURNLEY boss Steve Cotterill admitted he could have no complaints about the 1-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle.
And he paid tribute to the team ethic which inspired the Pilgrims to a last-ditch winner.
"To be fair to them, they were the better side throughout so we haven't got any grumbles or complaints," Cotterill said.
"We've got no qualms with the result.
"Everything went wrong. They were the better team and they beat us fair and square. We can't make any excuses.
"It probably started coming from the first 10 minutes so we shouldn't be shocked or surprised by the result.
"Of course we're disappointed but they were the better team. Full stop."
And the Clarets manager was full of praise for the way Bobby Williamson's side are handling Championship life.
"Four of their back five on Saturday were from the Third Division, and what a credit that is," Cotterill said.
"Then you add Friio in midfield, Adams, Mickey (Evans). Good luck to them.
"We didn't get out of the traps but that was because of the way Plymouth played. Sometimes the opposition make you play how you play.
"They were better than us, we hold our hands up and we get on for next week.
"Plymouth were a very good team. I like the team bit."
Cotterill admitted he was forced into a tactical change in an effort to reduce the flow of the Pilgrims attacks, swapping Lee Roche for experienced central defender John McGreal following his recovery from a calf injury.
"John's done one day's training and I didn't really want to bring him back, but I'm probably glad I did because he went on and he was one of our better players," he said.
But McGreal's inclusion came at a price as a second half booking at Home Park took his tally for the season to five yellow cards, meaning he will miss Saturday's home derby against Preston North End.
But Cotterill added: "Five bookings isn't bad for a centre half to be fair."
Meanwhile, the Burnley manager hailed goalkeeper Brian Jensen's overall performance and believes there was little he could have done to keep out Paul Wotton's injury time penalty.
"You're not going to save Wotton's penalties - it doesn't matter who you are," he said.
