DEFENSIVE errors proved costly for Clitheroe as they were edged out by the odd goal in an entertaining five-goal encounter.
The game's first real opportunity arrived on 12 minutes when a pinpoint Neil Spencer cross was met by the head of Lee Cryer just six yards out. Unfortunately the striker couldn't get any power behind the effort and the goalkeeper saved easily.
On 15 minutes, the hosts took the lead in fortunate circumstances. A low cross into the area hit the outstretched foot of Blues defender Russell Clarke that diverted the ball past Kris Richens.
Clitheroe almost struck back immediately and Jason Jones was unlucky to see his free kick come back off the post.
On 32 minutes Cryer made amends for his earlier miss with an excellent looping finish from 12 yards out.
Just before half-time though Adam Gardner failed to clear the ball and a low cross into the area was smashed home by Peter Knox.
Clitheroe started the second half brightly and went close through a shot from substitute Gary Jackson. Chris Whittingham then hit the crossbar before Eastwood increased their lead on 70 minutes.
Gardner was the man at fault again as his poor defensive header left Mark Fisher with a simple finish.
The Blues gave themselves a lifeline on 75 minutes when Steve McDonald drilled home a free kick from35 yards but they couldn't find a deserved equaliser.
In the closing stages, McDonald traded punches with an opponent and both sides ended the game with 10 men following the inevitable red cards.
