A BLACKBURN delicatessen has been chosen to represent Lancashire in a new culinary guide.
Chilli Lime Deli, in Fleming Square, has been picked by the authors of the Food Lovers Guide to the North West.
One of only two delis mentioned in the book, Chili Lime Deli is the only one in Lancashire.
Well-known food writer and cookbook author Clarissa Hyman, visited the Blackburn eatery to compose a write-up for the guide, available from the venue itself as well as book shops.
In her review Clarissa wrote: "The deli is one of six smart shops located in Blackburn's authentically reconstructed Exchange Arcade, built originally in 1849 as the town's first shopping mall, in what used to be the old cotton market. The wallpaper may be William Morris but the products are as contemporary and mouthwatering as you'll find anywhere.
"Whatever your choice, it's the world on a plate, and you don't even have to leave Blackburn."
Owner Matthew Mayman said: "The North West produces some fantastic food and it's great to be highlighted as a centre of excellence."
