PENDLE Borough Council chiefs are planning to make almost £70,000 of improvements to the area's roads.
The local authority has revealed its capital programme for highways in 2004/05.
And the amount, which includes a contribution from the Lancashire Highways Partnership, will see £12,000 allocated to help implement traffic calming in the Oak Street, Varley Street and Venables Avenue area.
A further £11,000 has been earmarked as a contribution to Vivary Bridge MUGA (multi-use games area) and £8,000 for grants for improvement works in Colne town centre.
The Colne in Bloom project will also receive a contribution of £7,500 and £3,000 will go towards improving Christmas decorations.
Other schemes receiving cash will be the Pendle Cycle Festival, Alkincoats Park and the Colne Market Town initiative.
