THE letter about playgrounds from R Benson (Citizen, last week) highlights exactly the problem we are attempting to tackle because many houses do not have space outside other than a back yard.
Greaves Park in Lancaster is a wonderful space that should and could be a fantastic resource for the local community.
There are beautiful trees, a range of wildlife and the space to play. What is lacking is suitable play equipment for our children to explore and develop their sense of adventure and excite-ment. Somewhere to climb and swing and slide and laugh and shout with happiness.
Our children need somewhere to get outside and grow and it should not be up to local people to fund raise in order to provide what should be available to all children - but it is.
So Friends of Greaves Park are fund raising and have already held a ceilidh, bat walk and hedgehog search. Now we are planning a Winterwonderland fun day for families. If you want to make a difference join us and make the park what it should be.
Juliet Eadie, Friends of Greaves Park.
