FORMER Burnley manager Stan Ternent was this morning named as the new Gillingham boss.
Ternent, whose contract at Turf Moor was not renewed last summer, has beaten the likes of Dave Bassett, Gary Megson and Gudjon Thordarsson to the post, which has been vacant since player-manager Andy Hessenthaler stepped down last month following a poor run of results.
Ternent is set to appoint his former Reserve team boss at Burnley, Ronnie Jepson as his assistant manager at the Priestfield Stadium
But the two must wait until April 9, 2005 before locking horns with their former club, when Gillingham host the Clarets in a Championship match.
