LANCASTRIAN RK first squash team were away to Bury.
Graham Collier and Howard Thornley both won at a canter but Mike Carter was unusually out of sorts. He lost the first two easily before firing back to take the next two to level. But he could not keep it up and lost 3-2.
Leigh were in with a chance until Bury unveiled two 17-year-olds, who are surely destined for much higher levels. Mark Taylor was well beaten while Tod Bulmer made a determined challenge before losing 3-2.
The second team were at home against Rochdale. Mike Howard using his vast repertoire of shots to win comfortably 3-0. Dave Hollingworth was not overwhelmed by the nice style of his female opponent and remained focussed to win 3-0. Jim Capon won 3 -1 while Bob Morgan was outplayed, losing 3-0. At three matches to one up, Dave Haines was under no pressure and in a hard fought game, won 3 - 1.
