THE woman in charge of policing Morecambe's Boxing Day clash with Carlisle United has warned troublemakers to steer clear of Christie Park and to leave the Conference clash to real fans.
Inspector Judith Finney, of Lancashire police's football intelligence unit, says there will be a big police presence for the all-ticket 'derby' but is not anticipating any problems.
"We are expecting the game to be a sell-out and there will be a large police operation," says Insp Finney.
"If people do not have a ticket they will not get into the ground.
"Carlisle have quite a number of people subject to football banning orders which means they are not allowed into grounds and I would like to remind those people that if we catch them trying to get into the stadium they will be dealt with through the courts. All we want is for the fans to safely enjoy a good game."
