CULCHETH Eagles beat high-flying Clock Face 16-8 to record their first league victory of the season.
After dominating the first quarter of the game it was Clock Face who opened the scoring after a sloppy pass went to ground in front of Culcheths posts.
Strong defence from Culcheth put Clock Face under pressure. Good field position brought a well worked try with Jay Sinar putting the strong running Craig Sutton into space and finished off by good support play from Dean Waterworth. Danny Houghton goaled. Strong running and defence from the impressive Stuart Sinar led to a drop goal from Adam Wright.
After the break Culcheth kept the pressure on the Clock Face try line and Adam Wright burrowed over for a try. MOM Stuart Pirre had Culcheth going forward all the game and his work rate in defence was awesome.
A superb length of the field try from Ian Stephenson edged Culcheth nearer to victory. Clock Face scored a try to make for a nervous finish but strong defence from Nick Irving, Andy Westwell, Martin Taylor and Dom Rainford and a second drop goal from Adam Wright secured the points..
