CHRISTMAS revellers can enjoy themselves safe in the knowledge that potential troublemakers will be quickly dealt with through a direct link between pub and club licensees and police.
Leigh Pub and Club Watch members now have direct radio contact with police officers patrolling the town centre following a scheme launch at The Litten Tree in Lord Street.
The move is part of a three month trial organised by pub and club watch members, Leigh Business Watch, Greater Manchester Police and the Wigan Council.
Helen Street, Chair of Leigh Pub and Club Watch, explained: "Leigh town centre is a great venue for festive celebrations and we aim to make sure every night out is a safe night out."
And Police Inspector Steve Wilkinson promised: "Leigh will be a safer place for partygoers and staff alike."
