RESIDENTS have been branching out during National Tree Week and helping to bring a touch more greenery to Close Park in Radcliffe.
The event was put together by the borough's Environment Forum and Viridor Credits, which gives tax credits to Pilsworth Environmental Company to distribute for the benefit of the local environment.
This funding has helped Bury Council to work with local groups and individuals to plant 100 new trees in 12 urban parks across the borough.
Councillor Mike Connolly, executive member for environment and transport, said: "The council believes it is vital to maintain a programme of diverse planting and create a year-round interest in our parks. The initiative will also provide an 'outdoor classroom' for people to learn and increase their awareness of the value of trees in their environment."
