ON the corner of Bury Street and Cross Lane, Radcliffe, between Bealey Row and the junction with Eton Hill Road, is a patch of land. On this land are pieces of stone, some lying down and others standing up.
Was there some sort of monument there at one time? If so, can anyone shed some light on it, as I have often wondered how these pieces of stone got there and what they were for.
JOHN KERSHAW,
Radcliffe.
