LEIGH Athletic gained another valuable three points with a last gasp winner against Wythenshawe Amateurs.
Leigh were rocked by an injury to Rick Wilson in the warm-up and soon found themselves a goal down against an average, but determined, Wythenshawe side.
The first half was a scrappy affair with the visitors defending well but with Leigh unable to find any rhythm. The second period saw Leigh push on, only to concede another goal and leave themselves a mountain to climb.
The double substitution of Wilkinson and Walker did the trick, however. Sumner fired Leigh back into the game and with five minutes left Wilkinsons superb overhead kick leveleld the scores.
The stage was set and Leigh didnt disappoint. Flying winger Danny Melling was brought down in the area after a fine run and up stepped Walker to fire home from the spot.
The second and third team games were postponed.
