A BURY policeman has narrowly missed out on a top national award.
Greater Manchester Police's Probationer of the Year PC Jason Ramm travelled to London to vie for the national title.
While still not yet on independent patrol, PC Ramm clinched the county title after locking up a suspected thief - while enjoying a day off work. The incident happened on another division in Manchester and his more experienced colleagues were impressed with the professional and competent manner with which the former youth worker dealt with the incident.
