A WHITEFIELD resident gave MP Ivan Lewis a warm welcome when he visited his home in Rufford Drive.
Ronald Hodgkiss has succeeded in turning up the temperature through the Government's Warm Front scheme. He received grants to fit his two-bed semi with loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, a hot water tank jacket and low energy lightbulbs. to improve efficiency and reduce fuel bills.
The Bury South MP made his visit during Warm Homes Week which was organised by National Energy Action, gas and electricity supplier npower, and the Government.
Mr Lewis said: "In the 21st Century no-one should go cold in their own home because they do not have enough insulation, an adequate heating system or sufficient money to meet the rising cost of fuel bills.
"Fuel poverty is a serious and urgent problem faced by too many local people and we need to work hard to eradicate it."
