IT WAS a glittering affair at the annual Mayor's Ball in Prestwich last Friday evening.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Couns Barry and Sharon Briggs, were dressed in their ceremonial chains as they welcomed guests to the event at the Longfield Suite.
And carnival queens from Prestwich and Radcliffe added an extra touch of glamour to the proceedings.
Civic leaders from across Greater Manchester were invited to attend and almost 400 people enjoyed a sumptuous five-course meal followed by dancing until late.
The music was provided by The Mark Gillbanks Band and the carnival queens organised a raffle which raised £700 for the Mayors Charity Appeal.
The money will be donated to Bury Hospice and the Fairfield Baby Lifeline Society.
