A WOULD-be cash machine bandit got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a Morecambe businessman.
Instead of money, he got a kick where it hurts most for his troubles.
The 46-year-old man was trying to make a withdrawal from a machine on Marine Road Central when the 'scruffy and unkempt' would-be robber approached .
He ordered the man to 'give me a few quid'. And when he refused the thief threatened to stab him.
But while he was trying to pull something out from his belt, the man kicked the robber to the ground and threatened to call the police on his mobile telephone.
At that stage, the robber got up from the ground and fled towards the town centre.
He is described as about five feet six inches tall with unkempt hair, wearing dirty dark jeans. He had a dark jacket on with several layers of clothing underneath.
Anyone who can help police is asked to call 01524-63333 or Crime-stoppers on 0800-555111.
