I FEEL I must write after attending the court case which followed the tragic death of Natalie Jones in February.
I could not believe the verdict of not guilty on the charge of causing death by dangerous driving. Paul Madeley admitted he was driving dangerously and the forensic evidence was against him. The fact that at one time he was driving at nearly double the 30mph speed limit was the only reason I could see for such a tragic result.
Had he been charged with speeding, or with dangerous driving, he may well have been found guilty. However, in this case he walked away with no punishment as the charge was not proved. I feel the law is wrong and that the jury made the wrong decision.
There is so much speeding on our roads and many more people are going to suffer like Natalie's parents if something isnt done quickly.
