OLD BOLTONIANS RES 0, BURY AMATEURS 5: BURY travelled to Bolton on Saturday and showed no sign of slowing in their pursuit of the title.
In a thoroughly professional performance, Bury were always in control.
The opening twenty minutes saw the hosts defend sternly but Bury continued to push and got their just rewards following some excellent football.
After some excellent passing play, Pete Gibbons threaded a superb through ball for Gary Edwards who finished superbly from a tight angle.
Bury continued to attack and grabbed their second shortly after, Dean Johnson forcing the keeper into a mistake and Tony Subachus tucked it home.
Bury were playing some excellent stuff, and when Dean Johnson forced an excellent save from the keeper, Gary Edwards pounced to grab his second and Burys third.
Rick Stephens was a constant threat on the right and he came close with a deflected shot before Edwards completed a perfect hat trick with a header.Subachus completed the rout when he won and converted a penalty.
