I AGREE with the concerns Mr McMahon raised (LET, November 20) about the situation at junction 6 of the M65 in the morning rush hour.
Eastbound traffic coming off here is having to queue along in the hard shoulder when the slip road becomes full due to flow restricted at the Whitebirk roundabout.
Vehicles start to line up on the hard shoulder once the congestion backs up on to the carriageway.
Even if the initial vehicles begin the queue on the carriageway, drivers behind gradually move on to the hard shoulder and other drivers follow suit.
Some drivers wishing to exit here overshoot the end of the queue on the hard shoulder and have to stop and wait in the nearside lane for a gap in the queue, increasing the confusion and risk of the serious accident.
N MOMONIAT (Mr), (address supplied).
