PLANS to build a single storey stable block at a paddock off Leaches Road, Shuttleworth, have been deemed unsuitable.
The site, at the access point to Sheephey Farm, is currently used for grazing livestock.
The applicant had wanted to erect a stone and slate stable, after farm buildings to the north were converted into dwellings.
However, councillors at a meeting of Bury's planning control committee on Tuesday expressed fears that any new development would also be converted into a home.
They rejected the plan on grounds of height, size, position and building materials.
