JOBS and career opportunities will come under the spotlight when Bury hosts an Employment Fair 2005 event next Wednesday.
Bury's mayor and mayoress, Councillor Barry Briggs and Coun Mrs Sharon Briggs, will open the fair to be held in the Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall between 11am and 4pm. The event is being organised by the Asian Development Association of Bury (ADAB).
Chairman Dr Lal Khan said: "ADAB has organised this event to raise awareness of the career and employment opportunities available to the communities of Bury, especially the ethnic minority. It will be a perfect opportunity to meet local employers, see what they do and find out more about all kinds of jobs and career opportunities.
"We are grateful to the Bury Local Strategic Partnership for funding this event under their global grants scheme," he added.
The Employment Fair 2005 will feature representatives from many well-known employers such as Tesco, Barclays, Halifax and many more. Recruitment teams from the local authority, Army, Navy and police will be on hand to offer guidance and support. The event is aimed at those still at school, school leavers, young students, lone parents and those looking for a career change.
Teams from Job Centre Plus, Bury Employment Support & training and Connexions will also be attending to offer practical advice on how to get on the employment ladder. And Bury College will provide details about training.
