BURY FC youngster Vassos Theophanous has been called into the Cyprus Under-21 set up.
The powerfully-built 18-year-old midfielder will link up with a Cypriot Under-21 training camp at Larnaca this weekend and take part in a friendly game before returning to Gigg Lane later in the week.
It's the second time the Manchester-based player has had the call after featuring in the country's Under-19 squad last year.
He is the second of the club's promising youngsters to receive international recognition, after Dave Buchanan was called into the Northern Ireland Under-19 squad in December.
"It's amazing given the situation the club has found itself in that some of the younger lads, like Dave and Vas, have received call-ups," said Bury boss Graham Barrow.
"Not only is it good for their own personal CV's it's good recognition for the football club too and I'm delighted for him.
"It emphasises we are doing things the right way with our young players and bringing them on."
