SO Bury Council are not winning when it comes to recycling. Should we be surprised? No!
Before Christmas they appealed to people to recycle their Christmas trees. We put ours out for collection and, guess what, it was still there when I got home from work. I telephoned Customer Services and was told that I needed to cut it up and put it in my brown bin. By the time of the next collection it will have been there for four weeks.
Then you have the black bin and for one week only they take everything you leave out. Then the following weeks they will not empty it at all if you dare to leave your lid open and forget to put out extra bags. Then we come to the black box, which is a pain in bad weather but at least they do empty it and the extra bags without any problems. I won't even mention green "paper" bags. You are lucky if you still have one when you get home from work. The council say they need more recycling to be done but I think they need to get their own house in order before asking everyone else to support a very disorganised scheme.
