Protest appeal on roads
Rossendale - because of the terrible state of the roads.
And Coun Peter Steen is calling on the people of Haslingden to put pressure on highways bosses into taking action.
He is urging residents to voice their concerns at an area forum meeting next week which will be attended by councillors officers from Lancashire County Council and hopefully a police representative.
He said many roads in the town are a danger to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians and create a bad impression of the area to visitors.
The Haslingden ward councillor said it is "pot hole paradise" in Ryefield Avenue, Bury Road and Eastbank Avenue.
Coun Steen said: "It's annoying for many residents here in Haslingden because they keep seeing all the wonderful things taking place in other parts of the Valley but they are left thinking what about us?"
Residents are being urged to have their say at the meeting at Haslingden County Primary School, Ryefield Avenue, on Wednesday, March 9, at 7pm.
A Lancashire County Council spokesman said the authority spent £700,000 maintaining 179miles of road in Rossendale and dismissed Coun Steen's claims that Haslingden was forgotten as "completely untrue".
