A NEW dedicated action line has been launched by the Home Office and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to help local residents tackle anti-social behaviour and create a safer community.
The borough is one of the 25 specially appointed TOGETHER areas around the country to offer the It's Your Call actionline.
Louise Casey, the National Director of the Government's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, visited Blackburn to launch the scheme.
The new service will make it easier for local people to report anti-social behaviour and aims to increase access to council services, tackling problems such as nuisance neighbours, vandalism or graffiti.
Councillor Andy Kay, chairman of the Community Safety Partnership, said: "If we get more reports from residents about what is occurring in neighbourhoods, it will give us a much better chance of finding out what is actually occurring and also allow us to apply the most appropriate solutions."
Advertising promoting the action line number -- 0845 605 2222 -- will be displayed throughout Blackburn with Darwen and residents will receive flyers.
