AN ACCRINGTON store manager conquered his fear of heights by taking part in a reverse bungee jump for charity.
Ian Grenfell, who runs GlynWebb, raised almost £200 for the Dr Joe Raffe Renal Unit Appeal at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury.
He was joined in the plunge by the store's administrative assistant Nicola Webster who also bungee jumped.
Both were sponsored by generous colleagues, family and friends.
The jump was held in the car park of the Oak Tree pub, in Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn and involved Ian and Nicola being attached to an elasticated cord, which is stretched up, released from the ground and catapulted into the air.
Ian said a pub car park was the best place to attempt the daring feat so they could go straight after they had done it and order a drink to calm their nerves.
He described the event as an experience not to be forgotten, but admitted that he had quite enjoyed it.
Ian said: "It was worth the range of emotions before, during and after the event, especially to help such a worthy cause.
"The staff at the Dr Joe Raffe Renal Unit do a fantastic job for children who are so in need of their vital support."
