LICENSEE John Welsh is the toast of Bury after winning a top prize at a prestigious brewery awards dinner.
John, of the Swan and Cemetery in Manchester Road, won the customer excellence and standards prize at Daniel Thwaites' 2005 Managed House Awards, held at Lancashire County Cricket Club.
The popular pub consistently scored marks of nearly 100 per cent for its customer service throughout the course of the year following a visit by a mystery diner.
John said: "This award reflects well on the efforts of the whole team here at the Swan and Cemetery. We always ensure that customers are made to feel welcome."
He picked up a £100 cheque, champagne and a framed certificate.
