SWINTON Lions host Russian side Locomotiv Moscow at Sedgley Park's Park Lane ground in the third round of the Powergen Challenge Cup (kick-off 3pm) on Sunday.
The Russian Rugby League was formed in 1989, with eight teams.
Since then the game has grown and the national team, the "Russian Bears" have qualified for the last two world cups.
Lokomotiv are one of 10 teams currently contesting the highest league.
The club is led by president Evgeny Klebanov, the former national coach, the current coach is Igor Orchinnikov, and one player to look out for is Russian international second row/loose forward, Robert Iliassov.
A second Russian team, Strela Kazan, travel the other side of the Pennines to face Keighley Cougars, and there are also four French teams taking part.
