VOLUNTARY sector groups in Bury can bid for grants to help make transport more accessible for disabled people.
A total of £70,000 is being allocated by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority's policy committee for a variety of access grants over the coming financial year.
The bulk of the funding - £42,500 - is available to help organisations develop travel training projects which make it easier for disabled people to use public transport confidently and independently.
Other grants will help groups fulfil one-off trips and enable community transport groups and Shopmobility organisations to promote their services.
To apply for a grant or for further information on the scheme, organisations can contact GMPTE's accessibility team on 0161-242 6243.
