Greggs Bakery is hoping to raise lots of dough at a charity run at Heaton Park.
The company has joined forces with Mancunian Olympic star Darren Campbell to raise the profile of the Greggs Children's Cancer Research Run 2005 to be staged on Sunday, May 8. He has officially launched the appeal for runners.
This will be the third year the event has been run, and it is expected that about 1,500 people will take part in either a five-mile run or a one-mile family fun run.
Greggs is aiming to raise £30,000, which will be divided between Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury and the Children's Hospital in Liverpool. The money, raised through sponsorship of participants and the entry fee, will be used to fund research into children's cancer.
Darren said: "I am really happy to support such a worthwhile cause and encourage everyone to grab their families and friends, put their trainers on and get down to Heaton Park in Prestwich on May 8."
