MP Andy Burnham joined 150 runners in a star-studded Asian Tsunami Appeal run around the streets of his Leigh constituency on Sunday.
The two and a half mile race, started by celebrity Sarah Dunn, who plays Mandy Richardson in the Channel 4 soap "Hollyoaks" raised £700 for the Oxfam disaster fund.
Serious and fun competitors took part in the joint Leigh Harriers, Astley and Tyldesley Road Runners and the Wigan Development Unit event.
The race, the idea of harrier Sarah Lucas, had four section winners, the men's event was taken by Max Colligon, the women's by Stacey Kirby, the U14s' boys by Isaac McCann and the U14s' girls by Amy Riley.
Every runner received a medal donated by Moran's Trophies and presented by Sarah Dunn who stayed at the event signing autographs for fans before dashing off for a photoshoot.
After the event Mr Burnham said: "I almost did a Paula Ratciffe and fell into the gutter, but I had to keep going. I've discovered muscles I didn't realise I had."
Harriers' spokesman, Joe Galvin, said: "We would like to thank everyone who supported the event in any way".
