Youngsters from all backgrounds and ages took part in a Festival of Respect football tournament at the JJB Soccerdome.
The 5-a-side tournament organised by the Blackburn with Darwen Sporting Club (BDSC) aimed to bring together youngsters from different neighbourhoods through a celebration of football.
Over 20 teams took part on the day. Alfred Olaiya, chairman of the BDSC told us, "We live in a multi-cultural society and we should all respect each other. It is only by doing so we can all get along together.
"Respect of religion, for elders, for other people all this can help achieve harmony.
"It was a great success and it proved that children from all neighbourhoods and backgrounds can get along if they are treated with some respect.
"I would like to thank all the teams that took part and the Army for helping make this day possible."
"The Army were kind enough to provide the trophies and pay for the pitches."
The Under 16s honours went to Longton FC who beat Milham B in the final. Romley Rangers were named team of the tournament. The over 16s winners were Mini Madrid who overcame Mean Machine in a tense final.
Organisers wished to thank the Army, Blackburn Police and Inspector Mick Laraway for helping to organise the event. And businesses who also donated: La Mama Ristorante, Asian Image, Punjab Jewellers, Bon Appetit Fast Food, A & A Newsagents, Soko Shoes and Last Orders.
