MARK Hughes believes Blackburn Rovers can win the FA Cup after Paul Dickov's late winner against Leicester fired the club into their first semi-final in 45 years.
Dickov's 82nd minute penalty secured a priceless 1-0 victory over the Foxes yesterday as Rovers marched triumphantly into the last four for the first time since 1960.
It's 77 years since Rovers lasted lifted the cup and although they will go into this year's semi-finals as the bookies' outsiders to repeat that feat of 1928, Hughes is starting to believe it's a real possibility.
"We are in the shake up and we've got a ticket so why can't we win the raffle?," said the Rovers boss.
Yesterday's tie appeared to be heading for a replay until referee Neale Barry suddenly awarded Rovers a penalty with eight minutes left and Dickov did the rest from the spot.
Ewood then erupted at the final whistle and now Hughes is relishing the prospect of a return to the Millennium Stadium for the semi-finals - the spiritual home of Welsh football.
"We are delighted but semi-finals are okay - you've got to win them to enjoy it and that's what we are hoping we are going to do," said Hughes.
"I'm pleased to be going back there. My connections with Cardiff are well documented and they are fantastic occasions at the Millennium Stadium.
"They are wonderful nights of football and emotion and let's hope we are in for some more.
"The FA Cup is a fantastic competition.
"Whoever wins it will be more than justified in saying what a good side they are because of the quality of the teams they will have to beat from this point on."
Rovers joined Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle in the draw.
