WELL done Lancashire County Council for finally making the roundabout a lot safer at Whitebirk Junction 6 of the M65.
I am an LGV driver who has to use this roundabout a number of times a day and I would say it is one of the most dangerous roundabouts in the country.
The roundabout would have been OK with no road markings, but most of the motorists who use it need educating in good road sense.
They approach the roundabout in the wrong lane and cut across the front of other motorists to get on to the motorway, I have been cut up on it every day until the road markings were put in.
The need for car drivers to negotiate the roundabout at about 50 to 60 mph with no indication to other motorists of where they are going is very dangerous.
I feel that one of the major problems on our roads today is that cars are being made to go too fast, associate this with the ignorant and arrogant attitude and deterioration of the standard of driving on today's roads ad this is why motorists need the road markings.
Also the drivers of cars need educating about how slow large goods vehicles are at pulling away when the mass weight of the vehicle could be 32 or more tons.
I am also surprised at the Telegraph opinion. Does your paper not usually support road safety?
As for the tailbacks, so be it.
