SECURITY guards were robbed at gunpoint by raiders wielding a sawn-off shotgun and a pistol.
The two masked men confronted the staff as they delivered cash to a convenience store on Church Lane, Lowton at 10.50am on Monday.
They threatened them with the weapons and demanded that they hand over the money.
The raiders are believed to have driven a blue Toyota Celica which was reported stolen from Stavesacre, Leigh, on October 20, 2004.
The car was discovered on fire in Oaklands Avenue following the armed robbery.
They escaped in another car.
The first raider, who was armed with the shotgun, is around 6ft tall, of a large build and was wearing a brown padded jacket and gloves.
The second offender, who was armed with a pistol, is around 5ft 9ins and of medium build.
