THE owner of a Bury motorcycle dealership who sustained burns when fire swept through his shop is still recovering in hospital.
On Monday, Roy Armstrong's condition was described as "stable and satisfactory". He is in the burns unit of Manchester's Wythenshawe Hospital following the blaze at the 56-year-old businessman's Italsport dealership last Wednesday.
Mr Armstrong, of Fletcher Fold, Bury, sustained 30 per cent burns to his upper body during the fire at the premises in Yarwood Street. The blaze severely damaged the workshop and showroom. It is believed that the outbreak was caused when a machine Mr Armstrong was working on backfired and ignited petrol vapours.
A 26-year-old man was also injured and treated at the scene but declined hospital treatment. More than 25 firefighters tackled the blaze at its height.
