A RAMSBOTTOM man arrested in respect of a burglary allegation was found to have different drugs in his possession, a court heard.

Brian Heyes had a tube around his neck which he admitted contained "speed", Bury magistrates were told.

Heyes (39), of George Street, pleaded guilty to charges of possessing class B and C drugs, namely amphetamine, cannabis, cannabis resin and temazepam, without authority.

As Heyes is awaiting an appearance at Bolton Crown Court on April 4 in respect of an offence of burglary, magistrates gave him a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered no costs in respect of the drugs offences.

Mr Ian Walsh, prosecuting, accepted that for a heavy drug user the amounts of prescribed drugs found on the defendant were consistent with personal use.

On his behalf, it was pointed out that Heyes had been out of trouble for nearly two years since his arrest in January this year.
