A BURY grocery store owner was injured when he tried to stop two thugs from stealing his till.
The 56-year-old man sustained minor injuries during the robbery at the Super Bargain store in the town's Dorset Drive. Police have appealed for witnesses and have issued descriptions of the raiders.
Officers said the man was alone in the store and was stocking shelves when the two raiders entered at 9.10pm on Friday. One of the offenders ran to the rear of the shop while his accomplice ran to the victim and began to attack him. During a struggle, the store owner received a minor shoulder strain. Both raiders left the shop with the till containing an unknown amount of money and ran towards Heywood Street.
Both thugs are described as being Afro Caribbeans, around 5ft 10inch of muscular build with short dark hair. One wore a dark coat with the hood up, black leather gloves, navy tracksuit bottoms and dirty black and white trainers. The other also wore a dark coat with the hood up.
Anyone with information is asked to ring the robbery unit at Bury police on 856 8093 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
