STEVE Cotterill has asked his players for one more push this week before Burnley sign off for a well deserved break.
The Clarets face testing road trips to Wolves tonight (7.45pm KO), and Sheffield United on Saturday before the Championship is mothballed for two weeks over Easter due to crucial World Cup qualifiers.
And boss Cotterill would love his over-achieving squad to enjoy the mini-break knowing their season is still very much alive.
He said: "People at the top and bottom end of the table will say three points is all-important now, and even though we're neither, the three points remain important to us.
"We're nearly at the initial 50 points target, but we've got a couple of tough games this week before we have a little break and they are good games to be involved in.
"I think we have deserved a bit of a break, but knowing they have a two-week break to look forward to shouldn't be an incentive to the players. There is an incentive every time you take to the field and every credit to the players for keeping the season going as long as they have.
"We have already done very well this season and it's all down to the players because we have pushed and shoved them to the hilt this year."
Cotterill admitted he may make changes at Molineux tonight against a Wanderers side unbeaten in nine league games and still harbouring ambitions of making their own push for the play-offs.
The depth of the Clarets squad is now arguably stronger than it has been all season judging by the bench against Rotherham last weekend, which included striker Ian Moore, versatile trio Michael Duff, Graham Branch and Lee Roche and current Welsh number one Danny Coyne.
Cotterill insisted: "The substitutes' bench has probably been a bit of a running joke all season, but from where I'm standing it isn't. At times I've tried to be light-hearted about it, but sometimes it gets a bit too much and it was great to be able to make three changes against Rotherham.
"I had a few options and I've got a chance of changing a couple of people again now because we had a couple of lads last Saturday, who, by their own standards, were off colour - probably because the games have caught up with them."
Meanwhile, Coyne was today celebrating after receiving a call-up to the Wales squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifying double-header against Austria.
The 31-year-old is one of three goalkeepers named by Welsh manager John Toshack, joining veteran Paul Jones and Ipswich Town youngster Lewis Price in the 21-man squad.
Wales realistically have no chance of qualifying from Group Six for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. However, the matches against Austria in Cardiff on March 26 and in Vienna four days later are important as new coach Toshack looks to rebuild.
