AS a Bury council taxpayer I have noticed over the years that things are not right and I am sure I speak for the majority of taxpayers.
Selling a cemetery to Tesco; investing £6 million of our money in a bank that went bankrupt; and trying to sell-off Bury Market to Westfields are just a few of the things I don't agree with.
Bury Market has been the biggest pull to Bury for many years, and will continue to be if matters are left as they are. But now we have the blow of a major part of the nearest car park becoming a JJB sports and fitness centre.
We need parking spaces for as many cars as possible to keep the town's shopping alive, and while there is a new parking area on the site of the old Bury Times building, it does not give easy access to the market.
We need leaders with business acumen who would have ensured that we owned Bury shopping centre and benefited from the rents which would have made the town profitable.
L.P. FEINGOLD,
Bury trader.
