The winds have started biting, the air is icy cold,
Leaves have finished falling, as winter begins to unfold.
The roads are bleak, the trees are bare,
But, the excitement of the adventure, I am about to share.
We stood at the foot of Pendle, my family and me,
The hill is high above us, as far as we can see.
Hats, scarves, gloves and welly boots, a lunch I had to pack,
We promised the kids a country walk, no time now to look back.
It took some time to reach the top, but we made it up the hill,
And as we looked around us, it felt like time stood still.
We looked down on the landscape, oh, what a sight to see,
The towns and fields below us looked beautiful to me.
The mist has started falling, the air was damp and thick,
The sun would soon be setting, let's get home double quick.
The children's noses were cold, their faces were quite red,
I think that the time has come, to tuck them up in bed.
We came to live in Lancashire just over a year ago,
Would we ever move back South? The answer is definitely no!
With all the land around us,as far as the eye can see,
The people are so friendly, and my family agree.
My grandad was a Yorkshire man, and he would say "listen here!
Home is where the heart is," and my heart is in Lancashire.
