VICTIMS of sex attacks are being urged to come forward after a 21-year-old student was subjected to an indecent assault - the third of its kind in the area.
The woman was walking down St Peter's Road, Lancaster, at 12.30am on Wednesday last week when she became aware of a man walking behind her.
She started to walk faster she stumbled over and fell to her knees when the man grabbed her and submitted her to what police describe as an 'horrific' sex ordeal.
The attacker is described as white, five-foot-seven-inches tall and slim, clean-shaven, with shaved hair. He was wearing a pink jumper with horizontal stripes.
A police spokesman says: "It is the third attack in the area and the description is similar to one of the other two offences. We are asking people to come forward if they have any information that could lead to the arrest of this person.
"Also there could have been similar attacks that have taken place but have not been reported - and we urge those people to come forward as someone out there might hold the key to unlock the door to finding out who this person is."
Officers are also carrying out a crime prevention programme with students at Lancaster University and St Martin's College.
Anyone with information should contact DS Paul Green-halgh on 01524-596643 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
