LOOKING out across a panoramic view of our beautiful city the other day I found myself deeply troubled by what I am witnessing.
The apocalyptic architecture of the disused cinema and Heysham power stations met with a vision of more roads, PC Worlds, chain pubs and unsympathetic building to come...
If it is possible for us ordinary citizens to influence the quality of the place in which we live then I, for one, wish to declare my wholehearted objection to the current plans of the council.
Instead of celebrating the unique nature of our city and its heritage we see our councillors pandering to the whims of outside investors in order to balance the books.
Until the planning process is driven by the prerequisites of community needs and long term sustainability we will undoubtedly see more and more of these buildings.
The thought of what our lovely city will look like after another 20 years of this 'development' should sadden us all.
Gary Foxcroft, Lancaster.
