SWIM stars from Lancaster Royal Grammar School claimed top prize in one of the most prestigious events in the school year.
A team of nine took part in the event at Manchester Grammar School - and claimed the Sutton Trophy after seeing off the likes of Nottingham High, Newcastle-under-Lyme School and St Edwards' College.
Those teams have dominated English Schools Swimming for years - with Nottingham in particular starring, winning the Sutton Trophy for the last four years.
Dr Mark Proctor, biology teacher and head of swimming, says: "Our team produced one of their best performances of the season.
"Individual performances were exceptional and as a team they were outstanding.
"This was also observed and commented on by other team coaches."
Meanwhile, the LRGS swimming team also retained the Stanley Cooke Trophy at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Blackburn, where the winning margin was one of the biggest for many years.
